Shanghai GP2 Asia : First points for D'Ambrosio

Gravity charger Jerome D'Ambrosio entered the first round of the GP2 Asia series in Shanghai last weekend, raising the curtain for the F1 Chinese Grand Prix. "It's a spectacular track with many interesting sweeps and turns, said the Belgian driver. We had a little difficulty getting the right set-up during practice and several red flag interruptions in qualifying prevented me from getting the most out of the tires. So all this put me 7th on the grid for Saturday's feature race, only 3/10ths off from third place. Following our decided strategy, I was one of the first drivers to pit but it was a rather lengthy stop as things did not go so well. When I was ready to go, I was bothered by a marshal right in front and stalled. That cost me a lot of time and forced me to work my way from 23rd all the way up to 9th, ending the race hot on the heels of Valsecchi and barely missing out on pole position for Sunday's sprint race, which added to the frustration. I enjoyed a good start on Sunday, quickly moving up to 7th before making some good passes on Perez and Petrov, and scoring the points for 5th place. The team's potential is excellent and we will be targeting a podium finish at the next race in Dubaï in early December."
