Jerome D’Ambrosio to compete in GP2 Asia series

Just like last year, Jerome D’Ambrosio will be entering the GP2 Asia series this coming winter with Team DAMS.
“Track time is rather limited in GP2 with only six sessions scheduled between now and the end of the year, and six other sessions which will take place before the start of the European season. So it’s a good opportunity to race once again in the winter GP2 Asia championship, although the cars are older and have less performance than the ones used in GP2 this year. I’m also happy to remain with DAMS as we have now built a good working foundation with the entire team and with my team mate Kamui Kobayashi. This cohesion will represent an important part of our level of performance for 2009. GP2 Asia starts early and we’ll already be racing in Shanghai on October 18th and 19th during the Chinese GP weekend, so there hasn’t been much pause since the last GP2 race. This will also provide me a chance to get acquainted with my new engineer, James Robinson, who has a wealth of experience, having spent 20 seasons in F1 with Arrows, Willams, McLaren and Jordan. I’m really looking forward to working with him and GP2 Asia will provide us with the perfect format to fine-tune our methods in setting up the car.”
The GP2 Asia series comprises 6 events, with 3 of them held as support races on Grand Prix weekends, while the other will take place during the Speedcar series ‘Grand Meetings’ organized in the Middle-East.
