The GP2 Series car is used by all of the teams, and features a Dallara chassis powered by a V8 Renault engine running on Bridgestone tyres. Racing at speeds comparable to F1, safety was the highest priority when the car was designed. The GP2 / 08 car has passed all F1 FIA crash tests and includes the new anti-intrusion panels. With the wearing of the HANS device also compulsory, the series has a dedicated commitment to safety. The Renault engine delivers 600bhp, while no electronic gizmos, such as traction control or power steering, are allowed. The ground effects and slick tyres make the GP2 cars powerful and tricky beasts to handle.
